What you'll be doing The Community Food Co-op's Janitorial Department Manager has responsibility to supervise department staff and maintain the cleanliness of the building and grounds.
This position maintains janitorial service materials and inventory, oversees minor upkeep of facilities.

Ensure department employees provide excellent customer service and receive appropriate Customer Service training.
Answers all customer comments in a timely manner.
Explains store policies and procedures clearly, completely and concisely to staff, members, customers, and vendors.
Maintains a clean and safe environment for customers and staff.
Financial Practices Schedule team to meet labor goals determined in conjunction with Store Manager.
Maintain working knowledge of personnel reports and financial goals.
Communicate relevant labor goals to staff on a regular basis.
Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes and product knowledge to staff.
Managing janitorial inventory and supply services for the assigned location.
Ensure that invoices are processed properly and delivered in a timely manner.
Management Practices Respond to challenging situations in a positive and professional manner including proposing new ideas or better ways of doing things.
Demonstrate regular, predictable work attendance.
Demonstrate a willingness and ability to cooperate and communicate with co-workers, supervisors, staff and/or outside contacts in a timely and appropriate manner.

Personnel Practices Actively address performance and personnel issues in a timely manner.

Work with supervisor and team members to develop goals, standards and procedures.
Establish systems for communication and promote staff participation in departmental development and input on issues affecting staff.
Ensure that staff evaluations are completed properly and on time.
Organizes and facilitates quarterly team meetings.
Work with HR to coordinate hiring process.
Follow good documentation practices.
Ensure that all staff in department receives appropriate orientation and training.
Develop and maintain useful departmental training materials and provide follow up training to ensure that standards are met uniformly by all staff.
Ensure appropriate safety training for all department staff.
Ensure up-to-date department schedules are posted three weeks out.
Ensure adequate supplies are ordered and available for department.
Operations Oversees all day-to-day operations of department Establishes daily work routines for department.
Responsible for routine maintenance and cleaning of all designated maintenance equipment.
Maintain cleanliness and conditioning of store in customer facing and personnel areas as directed by the store manager.
Maintains Bathroom cleaning log.
Maintain safe and clean grounds through sweeping, clean up and snow/ice management.
Maintains janitorial equipment and minor upkeep of facility Other Duties Familiar with and able to explain membership system simply, efficiently and completely Keeps supervisor informed of any problems and/or ideas Keeps supervisor, team and Service Desk notified of whereabouts or schedule changes Maintain a high level of product knowledge; communicate pertinent product information to team.
Create when necessary, amends and/or maintains all systems which enable the maintenance department to function efficiently and profitably.
Know and promote Co-op Principals and Mission, Vision, and Values, and follows co-op work policies and procedures Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as directed by the Store Manager Requirements:
What skills are needed Ability to provide friendly face-to-face customer service in a fast-paced environment Ability to work closely and cooperatively with others Attention to detail and ability to shift attention easily between tasks Willingness and ability to learn and to meet the changing requirements of the job Ability to work with little or no supervision, communicate effectively and work under deadlines Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business; some early mornings, evenings, holiday, and weekend shifts required Basic understanding of retail concepts and of retail industry Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and email programs).
Ability to speak and comprehend English well, multi-lingual is great Must be at least 18 years of age Physical requirements (with or without accommodation) Ability to work in moderate and loud noise environments including, but not limited to:
paging, telephones, human voices, music, and machinery.
